INTRODUCTION
Theme actuality. In order to improve the training and provide better knowledge of foreign languages we have to investigate the problem of stylistical devices in English. As in many other aspects of life the situation changed in a language policy. That requires creation of new textbooks, dictionaries, manuals. In order to fulfill this goals one must know every field of linguistics. In my opinion the theme of the work is very actual because there is not any manual which compare the lexical stylistic devices of the Ukrainian and the English language.
The aims and purposes of the work. Main goal of the work is to investigate definition of metaphor, its types and metaphorically motivated zoonyms in Mode
English, and difficulties appeared while their translation.
The scientific novelty of the work. The analyses of metaphor, its types and metaphorically motivated zoonyms have done in comparing the works done by the famous native and foreign scientists, such as Ruth M. Kempson, Teun A. van Dijk and others.
The practical value. The practical value of the research is that the material and the results of the given qualification work can serve the material for theoretical courses of lexicology , stylistics, typology, semantics as well as can be used for practical lessons in translations, home reading ,conversational practice and current events.
Literature overview. The methodic base on the work became the works of Ruth M. Kempson, Teun A. van Dijk, materials from Inte
et, different types of dictionaries, World Book Encyclopedia .
The structure of the work. The qualifications work consists of Introduction, Main Part (theoretical and practical parts) and conclusion, which are followed by the list of the literature used in the course of research.
Conclusions
In the conclusion section I’d like to write brief information about metaphorically motivated zoonyms of English language with examples.
The metaphorically motivated zoonyms, which contained 11 % from their whole number, aren’t investigated in our language in the full volume. But we can meet them mostly in all spheres of linguistics.
In this article we investigate in details the conception of metaphor, its notional and types. Metaphor - transference of names based on the associated likeness between two objects, as in the "pancake", or "ball", or "volcano" for the "sun"; "silver dust", "sequins" for "stars"; "vault", "blanket", "veil" for the "sky".
Also we investigate the main lexical features of metaphorically motivated zoonyms. Zoonyms are words denoting names of animals, birds or insects in describing such aspects of human beings as behavior, appearance, features of character, movements, state of mind, physical characteristics, etc. The lexically- semantical originality of the metaphorically motivated zoonyms caused originality of their grammatical characteristics: these words don’t use in the plural; in the most cases have a form of female gender (last point connected with overligustic factor: by predominance in the society of females). Prevailing majority of word creative methods, which create zoonyms have a nomenatively function, but they can pass the meaning of tender, extraordinarily rarely are additional signs of named animal, for example size.
In the sentence you can recognize zoonyms by the introductions’ words like, as, such as, as if, seem.
In the second part of the work we investigated the process of translation
and the difficulties which can appear while translating metaphorically motivated zoonyms from English language to Ukrainian one and vice versa.
