The study of human emotions needs input from the study of languages, now more than ever before. Advances in the science of brain physiology are identifying in ever greater detail the specific wave patte
s and locations of brain activity that correspond to different affective or emotional states.
Emotions are among the least tangible aspects of human experience, yet they exert powerful influences upon our thoughts and actions, and even upon our physical appearance and physiological processes occurring within our bodies. Examining the outward manifestations of facial expression and measurable physiological responses is one approach lo studying these inner states and events. But an emotional feeling is so inte
al to the experience of the person who has it, that it has rightly been questioned whether it is even reasonable to think that there is necessarily, or demonstrably, very much in common between one person's experience of, for example, anger in a particular situation, and a different person's experience of anger in the same or some other situation.
Every writer has his own style of writing. Trying to gain the definite stylistic effects the writer uses the different stylistiс devices. Our work is devoted to the stylistic means which Edward Morgan Forster uses in his novel “A Room with a view”, namely the means to make the sentences more emotional. The aim of our work is to reveal the main stylistic means to express the emotional content.
The aim has defined the next tasks:
1. To give some information about Edward Morgan Forster’s biography and his works.
2. To give the definition of the notion “emotion”
3. To reveal the main stylistic means to express the emotional content.
4. To make the practical research
The novel “Death of a hero” is the practical material of our work.
The work consists of introduction, two chapters and conclusion. In the first chapter we reveal the main stylistic means to express the emotional content of the statement.

We have studied the theoretical works on the stylistics and have made the research of the novel “Death of a hero”.
Every word has denotative and connotative meanings. The denotative meaning is the meaning which denotes the notion.
But the word can have the emotional component of the meaning if it expresses an emotion or the feeling. The pure signs of the emotion are the interjections. These words represent the special level of the lexicology because they don’t have the notional and logical meanings.
The interjections express the emotions in the common meaning. They don’t even show its positive or negative feature.
For example, the interjection “Oh” can express the joy and the sorrow.
The authors use different means to express the emotions in their works. Let’s consider them.
The writers very often use the epithets. The epithet is a lexical and syntactical trope. It can function as an attribute, an adverb and an address.
The emotional meaning of the statement can be transmitted by the repetition. The stylistic repetition is the repetition of a word or word combination in one sentence, paragraph or the whole text. The number of the repetitions can be different, but they must be noticed by the reader. The verbal forms can also transmit the emotional meaning.
The durative forms of the Present, Past and Future tenses are often used in the cases when they should be in the indefinite form.
The durative forms are more emotional. They can express the fleeting irritation of the interlocutors. The analysis of the Richard Aldington “Death of a hero” showed that the author widely uses the interjections which in this novel negative and positive. Richard Aldington uses also the repetition. In some emotional statements the interjections go on with the exclamation mark and the repetition which make the sentence very emotional.
